home sweet home

Leaving Pai yesterday was bittersweet. Because we've visited Pai two other times, all our visits seem to run together and sometimes it feels like we never left. It's such a treat to see familiar faces around town, and to reconnect with the few dear friends we've met there over the years. This time, we stayed at a new place, one that we'd found when we were here two years ago. It is very special; all of the dwellings are constructed our of natural materials, either sandbags or strawbale. The owner wanted to create a place "where nature meets art," and each dwelling is unique, painted differently on the inside with one-of-a-kind art and lighting. We stayed in the last sandbag dwelling of the row, so we had the most privacy, and a little deck that we could step out of our window onto and look out into the fields and the mountains beyond. It was cool inside during the day, and warm enough at night; it was quiet, and it was beautiful. We found it hard to say goodbye and pack up yesterday; another little home in the world for us! Thank you, Pai A Ars!
